Impacts of climate and land use/cover change on mini-hydropower generation in River Kyambura watershed in South Western part of Uganda

Abstract This study explored the combined impacts of climate and land-use change on mini-hydropower generation in Kyambura watershed. The soil water assessment tool (SWAT) was used as a hydrological model whereas statistical downscaling (SDSM) to downscale meteorological data for watershed year 2050. results show that there will be an increase urban land by 11.89%, barren 25.78%, 0.49% reduction percentage area coverage vegetation 38.17% A 10.6 17.7% is anticipated average annual hydropower generated There is, therefore, need develop governing policies regulate management practices preserve integrity watersheds ensure reliability power production.
